People ask why I do 3D (stereoscopic) photography; my response is that because it is so natural; we have 2 eyes so we see the everyday world in 3 Dimensions, so why not record it in 3 Dimensions by our photographs. To me, it seems very unnatural to reduce our everyday 3D world into the plane of a single a piece of paper.
Stereoscopic, or 3D, photography is more complicated than flat photography, but in my opinion, stereo is so much more rewarding; it brings back so much more memories of the occasion, seeing the images exactly as they were at the time of taking them. Most of the images on my website display side-by-side images, and in order to view the images in 3D you will need a simple stereoscopic viewer, ie a stereoscope, depending on the size the images appear on your viewing device;
For images up to 175mm width, I recommend using a Loreo Lite or Lite Owl viewer.
For images lager than 175mm width, I recommend using prismatic spectacles, or a mirror viewer.
See ‘Technical Stuff’ for information about commercial suppliers of stereo viewers, information on the type of digital cameras I use, including SmartPhone 3d, underwater housings for 3D cameras, some notes about taking and viewing 3d images and more technical stereoscopic help.
