Margate Grotto is an enigma; discovered by accident in 1835, but no details of its construction and origin are known. It is 32 metres long and consists of narrow winding passages all covered by shells of local origin, containing about 4.6 million in total. It’s an amazing place to explore. It’s rather dark and is a challenge for photographers, but I hope that the images will encourage you to visit. For more information see https://www.shellgrotto.co.uk/.
